The Tier 4A final took place last night inside The Hanger. A game of two tails that went to the wire but there had to be a winner and in the end the Toronto Storm stunned the North York Islanders with a last second goal.
Both teams had different roads to the finals. The North York Islanders won both their quarter-final and semi-final rounds in overtime. The Toronto Storm took care of business quite easily in their first two rounds.
Game one of the Final was a clumsy affair with ended in a 1-1 tie. Game two however was a different story. A very entertaining game. The Islanders jumped to a 3-0 lead only to see it evaporate before regaining it back less than a minute later. The Storm were resilient on this night tying the game once again. The last 7 minutes saw both teams missing numerous chances. But the Toronto Storm would not be denied on a goal by Tim Vasilopoulos with 4 seconds remaining. Goaltender Vasil Pejcinovski was named Playoff MVP.
TIER 3 FINALS
After dismantling the first place Toronto Sabres in the semi-finals in over time the Pirates took on the second place Spartans. After losing game one by a 3-1 score the Pirates rallied and won game two 4-1 and that set the stage for overtime. Both teams missed numerous chances and both having power play opportunities. Finally after 14 minutes of overtime Kevin Marques scored to capture the Championship. Playoff MVP was Mike Raleza goaltender of the Pirates.
TIER 4B FINALS
The Maple Griffins after easily winning there semi-final matchup against the Legion of Doom, they had to take on there rival and perennial powerhouse the Toronto Stallions. After tying game 1 all that was left was to win game two. A see-saw battle saw both teams exchanging one goal leads. Massimo Lamacchia bulged the twine and sent the Griffins to their first league title. Anthony Ferrante, Griffins forward was awarded playoff MVP.
